St. Aidan’s Basket

St. Aidan’s Basket is our primary outreach ministry. In the past, we’ve provided hot meals and clothing for those in our neighborhood who needed a little help. We’ve also provided sack lunches for anyone who asked.

Due to changing circumstances during and following the pandemic, we haven’t been able to reach as many people as we would have liked. So when the Rev. Sara Fischer began Hope and Bread, a street church, we made the decision to focus our efforts toward helping with that important ministry.

We invite you to learn more about Hope and Bread by visiting their website, where you can also make a donation.

Garden Design Guild

The Garden Design Guild is comprised of people who love to work around the grounds of our lovely campus. They prune and plant, rake and water, and are the last word when it  comes to what actually does go into the ground and what doesn’t.  So, if you want to plant some special roses, or a beautiful row of beans, check with the Garden Design Guild, and they’ll help you decide where to plant it.

The Green Team

When we say we love the great outdoors, we’re not kidding.  We care about the earth and all that it nurtures and sustains.  We are working to create a green space that is free of invasive plants, and is filled with natural habitat for our various wildlife and birds.  We care about stewardship of the earth and it’s sustainability long after we are gone, so we are working, too, toward creating a “green” way of life inside our buildings, using recycled products, non-toxic products that will not bring harm to the rivers and streams, efficient lighting and heating, and more. Our goal is to become a certified natural habitat and a certified Green Church.

Caring for the earth means more than ensuring its sustainability, it means taking care of all the creatures that rely upon its life-giving nurture.  From dogs and cats, to insects we cannot even name, we care.  For all flying things, hummingbirds to albatrosses, we care.  That’s why we are a partner with The Humane Society of the United States.  We follow their lead in much of our advocacy and meanwhile we take care of the critters who live with us, and near to us, at St. Aidan’s.

The St. Aidan’s Animal Ministry

We found a special space on our campus grounds in which our animal companions, and any other animals who need a place to take their final rest, might be at peace.  Sophia’s Garden was named for one of our little bunnies who live on the church grounds.  We know we have a family of bunnies, but we’re not sure who’s who, so we call them all “Sophia.”  The bunnies are becoming quite tame, as they come to know us, and we think they would approve of our memorial garden for animals, especially the name!
